Hailed as “one to watch” as a teenager by the blues media, bookers, blues fans and guitar stars alike. Young Laurence has come of age turning heads and making jaws drop with his incendiary live set and stunning records.
Laurence and his crack band put the power into “power trio” with their modern day blues rock with an edge. He sings, plays and writes like a veteran three times his age but with absolutely no ego and his feet firmly on the ground. Laurence’s latest album Take Me High was released in July 2016 produced by the legendary Mike Vernon. The band line-up is completed by the award winning rhythm section of Roger Inniss (bass) and Phil Wilson (drums).
Influenced by blues and guitar greats such as Walter Trout, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher and Albert Collins, Laurence Jones is one of the the most promising young guitarists on the blues scene today. Cited as the ‘young gunslinger of the blues’, Jones recently secured a deal with Ruf Records – home to the likes of Louisiana Red, Canned Heat and fellow young blues prodigy Oli Brown. Recorded at the iconic Dockside Studio, Louisiana – where B.B King and Derek Trucks once laid down tracks, Jones’s latest release features guest licks from Walter Trout, Aynsley Lister, Yonrico Scott, Charlie Wooton and producer Mike Zito.
Jones was awarded the ‘Young Artist of the Year’ prize at the 2014 and 2015 British Blues Awards ceremony held at the Great British R&B Festival and Classic Rock magazine described him as “the future of the blues” as well as awarding the Thunder in the Sky LP a 5/5 review. In 2016 The Laurence Jones band came second in the band of the year category, and Laurence was named blues guitar player of the year and Young artist of the year for the third time.
